The slogan of the first main pillar Nossack Fine Meats, “Nothing Could be Finer,” describes a fine balance of Old World family tradition and North American tastes and preferences.

A Timeline of Tradition

1982

As a privately owned and operated company, the Nossack legacy found a new home in Red Deer, Alberta. After almost 100 years of tradition, the family immigrated to Canada from Frankfurt, Germany. Trained and guided by his parents, Karsten graduated as an import-export trader. Like his father and grandfather he achieved professional certification as a Master Butcher & Sausage Maker. Nossack Fine Meats Ltd. was established, offering Beef Jerky, Roast Beef, Pastrami, Sausages, Turkey and expanding to hams.

1994

Nossack Fine Meats Ltd. became Federally inspected and approved.

1995

Nossack Transport, owned and operated by Axel Nossack, responsible for all logistics of the Nossack Food Group. Secure, temperature controlled tractor trailers making food safety and security top priority. ‘On Time - On Temperature’.

2001

Nossack Fine Meats Ltd. became a leader in Food Safety after being recognized as HACCP certified in 2001. Nossack exceeds all mandatory CFIA Food Safety Regulations, including testing for Listeria, E-coli 0157:H7, etc. Third party audits are conducted annually. Food Safety continues to be a strong commitment for Nossack Fine Meats.

2003

Nossack Distribution Centre is opened. The “hub” of operations, cold storage, distribution, also the Head Office, is built in Red Deer on 40,000 square feet. It allows for complete control of incoming raw material and finished goods from Alberta. Most product can be supplied fresh or frozen.

2004

The Alberta Food Processor Association selected Karsten and Ingrid Nossack to jointly receive the 3rd Annual AFPA Industry Builder Award in recognition of their contribution to the growth of the Alberta Food Processing Industry.

Catharina Nossack took on the role of HACCP, with an additional role of HACCP Auditor in 2011.

2006

With Carsten Nossack Junior, the 5th generation has completed his Masters in Butcher & Sausage Making. The tradition continues.

2008

Nossack Food Group was established to handle expanding operations. Nossack Gourmet Foods proudly joined the Nossack Food Group (formerly Sepp’s Fine Foods, Innisfail). Serving major distributors and retailers countrywide, Nossack Gourmet Foods is a 25,000 square foot facility located in Innisfail. “Quick Comforts From Your Oven” branded products that are quick and easy, heat and serve on the go snacks, suited for all ages. Products such as: savory meat pies, sausage & vegetable rolls, calzones and quiches. We manufacture our fine line of fresh, frozen and raw bakery type product under strict HACCP and Food Safety guidelines and restrictions (recognition in July 2000).

Traceability of all our products is guaranteed throughout our system and our facilities. We put Food Safety to the forefront where it belongs.

2012

Currently the Nossack Food Group of companies is supplying to major distributors from coast to coast, offering a variety of exceptional quality products. Also a certified product line for Halal Meats is available. And based on their national acceptance in the Canadian market Nossack Food Group is looking to expand its horizon to markets outside of Canada. “...and the tradition continues...”
